Local Feature: Bespoke Salon

Hello from my new favorite couch! My hair is looking SO fresh thanks to Bespoke Salon, and my heart was skipping after spending my morning in their gorgeous space.

The welcome counter is so gorgeous, and it’s actually a refurbished piece. There’s tons of character and intentional details like this counter that are incorporated throughout the space that make the designer in me so, so happy.

Okay, real talk. You know how you get your hair washed in the salon, and it’s equal parts wonderful and painful thanks to that awkward sink edge on your neck? Not the case here! These chairs were absolute heaven with zero neck pain over the sink edge - just the way God intended it.

Bespoke also does lashes! These services are set aside in this adorable little nook behind a sliding barn door. Basically it’s the perfect nap-while-your-lashes-get-beautified room. If you’ve never had your lashes done, it’s definitely something to consider. Speaking from experience, it saves SO much time when you’re getting ready, and it’s also great for special occasions, vacations, etc.

While you’re waiting for your color treatment, you’re welcome to hang out at this bar area, get some work done, answer emails, etc. I spent my downtime enjoying some Reverie coffee while it was still hot! (Basically the dream for me right now.)

You know it’s a well-designed place when even the bathrooms are Pinterest-worthy! I’m not going to lie - I love some eclectic design, especially when it incorporates taxidermy. When you’re married to a hunter, it’s really cool to see pieces like this mixed into modern design.

Local Feature: Reverie Roasters + Founders Bakery

B's face is saying: "How in the heck have we not featured Reverie yet?" Great point there, B Bear! I've loved Reverie Roasters for the longest time, and they recently moved into a new location with an addition of a bakery. I've been dying to visit, so we popped in for some coffee and cookies (plus brought some bread home - YUM.)

The bakery and coffee sides connect seamlessly. It reminded me a lot of another cafe we visited in San Francisco - so effortlessly cool and modern while also embracing historical details (like the ceiling!). Give me all the carbs and caffeine in a pretty building, and I'll be a happy lady.

The staff could not have been nicer. It's such a great vibe in there, and I love that there's tons of spots to meet a friend, work, or do a little of both. I would also like to point out that this is the kind of place that will serve you a real Caramel Macchiato, and you'll never be the same again. (Word to the wise: Not for the faint of heart. It comes in a very cute Instagrammable espresso shot too.)

I always get the Rosemary Salted Caramel Latte because it is a little herb-y, salty, and sweet, and I crave like you wouldn't believe. They're killing me right now with their new cafe open at the Downtown Library, and it's making my love for this latte harder to resist. I also got a loaf of their Sourdough Beet Surprise (sounds quirkier than it tasted!) to take home. It was amazing with a sandwich of Italian deli meat + tomatoes + greens. I need to go back and try their other breads! And finally, word to the wise, their cold brew is unmatched - big fan.

B inhaled her from-scratch snickerdoodle cookie. She's a fan, no doubt. They had so many fun desserts to choose from, including Creme Brulee. I love that they have real food here now too, aside from just standard cafe items and coffee.

I spy with my little eye... wine glasses and beer taps! They now have a grown-up drink menu and weekday Happy Hours to boot.

It's so great when local businesses expand and grow, and this is a prime example here in Wichita! If you live here, and you haven't stopped by (or checked out their new bakery) you've got to make it a priority!

Local Feature: River City Brewery

Picture by myself whaaaat? So weird to do one of these without B, but mom and dad needed a date night! This local feature is so exciting for me because it's featuring a place that's near and dear to my heart for a number of reasons. Most importantly, it's where Jordan and I had our wedding reception for everyone back in Wichita after we got married in Sonoma! It was the perfect place for the number of people we wanted to invite, and it had such a fun location (Old Town - what what!) with great food. We were totally spoiled with this reception. Also, they've also currently got a beer on tap that my husband helped create! It's a collaboration beer between the local Wichita Ashley Homestores and RCB (more on the beer later in the post) and Jordan helped make the first batch of it, which was an awesome experience for him - linking some of the photos from that here

_DSC0002.jpg

My husband and I are huge fans of craft beer, and RCB absolutely kills it with their flagship and seasonal beers. They're always creating surprising, delicious beers, and it seems like every time we go in there's one I'm dying to try. For example, we had a date night on Cinco de Mayo at RCB, and they were serving frozen margarita beer as well as a tequila beer. I still dream about that frozen strawberry margarita craft beer. KILLER good + even better with some RCB tacos.

The collaboration beer with the local Ashley Homestores is called It's Wit Fam, and it's got some serious Orange Creamsicle vibes. It's an awesome beer for summer, and it's been really popular locally. If you like wheat beer and or beer with a fruity vibe, this is one to try! It's become my absolute favorite this summer, and if you're local to Wichita, there's a number of restaurants that also have it on tap including Dempsey's and Piatto Neapolitan Pizzeria.

_DSC0095.jpg

Other beers you HAVE to try? I was a huge fan of "Ope" and Jordan really liked "Reptilian Agenda." Also, if you're a fan of sour beers, RCB always kills it with their sours. I'm not a big dark beer fan, but my husband is. Jordan has yet to meet a darker beer he doesn't love here. Note: A lot of these are seasonal, so if any stand out to you here, make sure to get in and try them before they're gone!

_DSC0091.jpg

For nice nights there's a fantastic upstairs patio that overlooks Old Town. I've always loved Old Town, and RCB is in the center of it all.

_DSC0102.jpg

We ordered burgers, but it's always hard to choose here. I honestly LOVE their mac and cheese, and they have so many options (Buffalo Mac's the best). This time I tried the Turkey Burger, and it came on a brioche bun with brie, cranberry apple aioli, grilled apples, argula, and local honey. It was absolutely as good as it sounds. Brie on a burger is too hard to resist.

_DSC0073.jpg

This is SUCH a fun place for a low-key date night, especially if you and your sig. other are into craft beer. We love the location, the vibes, the food, and the beer. And if you haven't been in yet to try the Ashley Homestore It's Wit Fam, you need to hurry in! It "pairs well" with everything on the menu ;)
